# FAQ

> Frequently asked questions about the Firmium API and platform

## Which countries are covered?

Firmium searches official business registries in Europe, with the deepest coverage in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Additional countries are available depending on the registry and your plan.

Which fields exist for a given country (officers, shareholders, financial statements, publications) depends on what that national registry publishes. Do not assume a field is present.

For a current overview of coverage by country, contact [sales@firmium.de](mailto:sales@firmium.de).

## Which sources do you use?

* **Official business registries:** Core master data comes from the responsible national register.
* **Public filings:** Gazettes, publication registers, and other official notices.
* **News:** Business news and press releases that complement register data.

Deep Search queries the national register synchronously.

## What is the difference between Search and Deep Search?

**Search** looks up companies already in the Firmium database. It is fast because the data is indexed.

**Deep Search** queries the official register live when Search has no match. Newly found companies are then stored in Firmium.

Typical flow:

1. **Search:** Known companies already in Firmium.
2. **Deep Search:** Fetch a company that has never been looked up before, directly from the register.
